The Indiana Arts Commission recently selected the Carmel Arts & Design District as one of the three official cultural Districts in Indiana.  This is the first year of the program, which supports public engagement with the arts within each community.  Located in the heart of Old Town Carmel, the Arts & Design District is a premier arts and design destination. The District is home to art galleries, fantastic local eateries, interior designers, showrooms, antique stores, a variety of specialty retail shops and boutiques and the new Indiana Design Center.

The other 2 districts to join Carmel in this distinction are the Bloomington Entertainment and Arts District and Lafayette/West Lafayette.
